Cassiobury Park is the largest and best-known public park in Watford, Hertfordshire, covering around 190 acres (77 hectares).
History
The park was created in 1909 when Watford Borough Council purchased part of the estate of the Earls of Essex, whose family seat, Cassiobury House, once stood on the site. The house was demolished in 1927.
What's in the Park
The park extends from the A412 Rickmansworth Road in the east to the Grand Union Canal in the west, with the River Gade and River Colne both running through it. Cassiobury Park Avenue forms a tree-lined approach from the town centre side.
Getting There
Cassiobury Park is a short walk from Watford town centre along Cassiobury Park Avenue. Watford station, on the London Underground Metropolitan line, sits at the park's southern edge, making it easily reachable without a car.
